Fanatic for French

Hello? Do you like French? Do you hate French? Do you feel an overwhelming wave of apathetic nothingness towards French? If you answered yes to any one of those questions, continue reading this blog! It’s perfect for you! Bonjour mes amis! Zut Alors! Je ne comprends pas! Une baguette! Je voyagerai  en Chine! If you don’t know what that means, you’re not in French, and therefore, a whale-faced peasant. But in all seriousness, the upper echelon of Brentwood College School, the elite members of this Torch society, would like to cordially suggest that you join our coveted French program. We promise you not only a first class and in-depth education process into the useful language that is “fransay,” but also the experience to meet – not just by correspondence but in person – special members of our community such as Jordan R, Privett ‘15 and his legendary pants. Kind of like in the superlative action film Raid 2: Berandal [directed by Gareth Evans], there will be girls, Exacto knives, and baseball bats. Unfortunately – due to various budgetary restrictions and “saaafety precautions” – the latter two will be unavailable [although Charlie M, Whittall ’15, is working on the problem as we speak].  Last week, Mrs. Patricia Kelly’s French 11 class (her favourite class, obviously) held a fashion show instead of a unit test. Of course we were all “sur la lune” (“over the moon”, if you haven’t clued in) at this prospect and took great pleasure in dressing up in ridiculous clothing – and all the while practicing our ever-growing French vocabulary and superb pronunciation. We were having such a great time that even Toby CH, Privett, ‘15 came to join us, leaving his Law 12 class in the dust, because in reality, he is the law. French is God, French is justice, and French is the reason why Brentwood students wake up in the morning. Take French, or get benched. From life. Adios. Karli S, Hope ‘15 & Toby CH, Privett ’15
