Capturing the perfect shot is one of the most gratifying things a photographer can do. This is something you cannot do the first time you pick up a camera. It takes hours of experience and a really good teacher. Mr. Paul Fletcher guides 60 plus students in both traditional film and digital photography for four blocks every arts afternoon. Brentwood’s Photography Department, located on the bottom floor of the Centre for Art and Humanities, is something every photography student is thankful for. Boasting an impressive suite of rooms: three darkrooms (beginner’s printing lab, film processing room, advanced printing room) there is also a media lab, preparation area, and a professional photography studio. Four high-powered printers and the media lab are the main drivers of the digital program while the darkrooms, prep area, and film processing leave the traditional photographers to do things by hand. The Brentwood photography program takes a new student, embraces them and teaches them the ways of the camera starting with traditional black and white and working up to professional level digital if they wish. Experienced fine art photography students get to experience a little bit of this professionalism at the annual Brentwood Photography Show. Just Jakes Restaurant in downtown Duncan is lending us their walls on Tuesday May 27th from 5-8pm. All pictures shown will be for sale and the profits go directly to these students.
