Stepping onto the endless green, knowing what cards were on the table, the Junior Girls’ Soccer team set out for a win on their home ground. “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose” the girls cheered, ready to defeat their rivals and proceed to Islands.   Red and yellow clashed as soon as the whistle blew, but as the game continued to swing back and forth, the energy within the girls was fading. The first half ended at a deadlock and frustration was nipping at their minds; no one had the attitude to win.  Huddled, heads down, the team needed a reminder: “We win this and we’re in Islands!” With this in mind the second half was turned around. Not much later, Mckenna H, Alex ‘16 made a beautiful cross. Feet flailed and panicked yells were heard within the 18 yard box but Avi S’, Alex, ’16 surefooted cleat found the ball and shot it into the net.  The clock still ticking, Brentwood was set to play the game out until the end. Takara C, Mackenzie ’16 sealed the deal with the second goal. We succeeded in making it to Islands and had beaten our rivals 2-0.  The Junior Girls will be playing in the ISA tournament in Victoria on Friday and Saturday May 1st -2nd. Stay tuned for updates on the girls’ success in Islands. Avi S, Alex ’16, Photo by Nicole T, Alex ‘14
