A Match to Serve the Future

A Match to Serve the Future

Last Tuesday, the Senior A Volleyball team travelled to Glenlyon Norfolk School (GNS) in Victoria to play a friendly match. This included a team discussion on the bus about the season and how we plan on succeeding (and announcing our team Captains Lauren H, Allard ‘15 and Hannah C, Allard ’15).  With powerful hits by Taylor C, Alex ‘17 (one of the two grade tens on the team) and great passes by Allie W, Hope ‘16 the game was full of exciting moments.  Winning the first three sets meant that is was a clean win and the team loaded back onto the bus to head back for a late dinner.   With two upcoming tournaments, this match was a perfect opportunity for the team to practice new positioning and become more of a cohesive unit. The team is hosting the 2014 BC AA High School Provincial Championships later this term so we are working hard to be able to show the school what all of our hours goes towards by doing well.  Another highlight for the team is our upcoming trip to California! The returning girls have been looking forward to this trip since it was mentioned last season, but the new members of the team, of the family, are equally excited. Despite having only been a team for two weeks, it is incredible at how closely knit the girls already are.  All 12 members of the team and our two incredible coaches, Ms. Fougner and Mr. Minckler, are ready to put the work in and hopefully see the results that come in.  Mollie MG, Mackenzie ‘15
