Arts Competition #1: Quadruple the Canvas

Already immersed in countless art projects, Brentwood artists could not be more busy, yet now is the perfect opportunity to begin the first art competition of the year! Seeking four large, motivational murals to fill the empty walls in the varsity gym, the arts community is called forward to compete for this space and exhibit one of their own pieces.  Students are urged to submit sketches and designs of what they believe should be presented on the canvases. A committee will then review these sketches and select four winners based on a number of criteria. A winner will be selected from each competitive house, and then they will have the opportunity to articulate their ideas onto an extremely large canvas. These paintings should illustrate one of the many sports that Brentwood offers, and can be abstract, an action shot, or even incorporate graffiti.  As this is an interhouse competition, the more sketches or designs submitted, the more points that a competitive house will receive! The deadline for all sketches and ideas is Thursday, October 9th.  I am extremely excited to see all of the unique designs and ideas that arise throughout the selection process. It promises to be a very exciting and memorable event. The competition is sure to be extremely fierce, as there are many talented students this year!  Good luck to all the artists!  Maddi A, Assistant Head Prefect of Arts, Alexandra ‘15
