As the excitement of Orientation seems to pacify our new arrivals and nerves turn into anticipation for the year ahead, new and old students alike get to experience the last memorable event that wraps up Orientation. Eco-Challenge is a long-standing tradition at Brentwood that is made up of several outdoor events including canoeing, single and…
When one thinks about the Cross-Country running team, and let’s all be honest, we probably don’t think about them enough, we probably think first about their feet. Fleet feet on hardtop, tootsies traversing trails, huffing and puffing and sweating and striving. But yesterday afternoon, in the warmth of the autumn sun, it was their hands…
In many ways, I’m entirely envious of Brentwood students. Their beautiful waterfront campus contains a supportive community that offers 101 enriched opportunities in academics, athletics, and the arts. We are much blessed. However, for most Brentwood students (day students excepted) I am saddened for their summers – because they tend not to spend them in…
In the spring of 1964, my father, Tony Carr, jumped on a ferry and went from Dublin, Ireland to downtown London to meet up with the Headmaster of Brentwood College. There was a job opening for a math and chemistry teacher and an opportunity to coach some rowing and rugby and “free” accommodation if he…

Reusing garbage was determined by the Environmental Advocacy class to be a creative and effective strategy. Voila, the Garbage Art Interhouse Competition. First, the school’s Scuba team collected a wide variety of discarded trash from…
Ellis House has once again completed a terrific year. As the seasons went on and the number of brunches dwindled, our house began to feel like a family full of laughter, inside jokes, and fun. Many of these fun times were facilitated by the 9s, who always knew how to have a good time. The…
It all started on the bus ride from our campus to Mark Isfeld Secondary School in Comox. We started by blasting songs on the bus to get us ready for the game against Claremont. It was a long and fun bus ride there and the energy brought us all the way to a 41-36 win…
On September 5, 2023, 20 new mermaids joined Allard, flooding the reef with eagerness & anticipation. Working alongside the returning mermaids, we did what Allard does best: form a community. Topping our reef off with 65 students, the Prefects & I were excited to try our hands at keeping Allard’s culture alive. From the tradition…
