“I want you. I want all of you. Forever. You and me, everyday”. Touching isn’t it? Well let me tell you that you could be able to write like that within three weeks, just like it was nothing. A romance is a beautiful piece of writing. Just imagine that you could have the power to shape your words into the soft and smooth prose of Nicholas Sparks. That would be it, wouldn’t it? Well, at Brentwood don’t just learn the structure of complicated self-reflective essays or of expository keyholes. No, that would not be the education that separates you from everyone else. We also learn how to write love poems and narratives about the difficulties of romantic life. Entering Mrs. Reynolds’ Grade 10 Romance Elective class, I could feel how different the atmosphere was. After watching a clip from Roxana, a well known romance, we started right away with reading and analyzing the first poems and soon we figured out that they often used rhythm which allows us to take the next step towards our dream: writing our own love poem. Attending this elective class was an experience which really caught me. We had candles on the tables and romantic background music which made everything so much lovelier and so different from usual classes. You Grade 9s should think about Romance with Mrs. Reynolds next year. It will warm your heart! Ferdinand S, Rogers ’17
