Eelgrass Mapping

Eelgrass Mapping

Last week, on April 14th, students of Ms. Richardson’s Environment 9 class and Mr. Doehler’s Biology 11 classes spent Saturday morning learning how to map eelgrass from a local expert. Miren G said “I learned the importance of mapping and taking care of eel grass beds because without them, several species of herring fish would not be able to lay their eggs on the blades of the grass.”

On May 7th, the same students will return to the shores of Mill Bay to map our inlet’s eel grass beds. Future students of Brentwood will use this map and continue to monitor the health of Mill Bay’s eel grass beds.
