Ellis House 2013-2014

11 July 2014Mr. Liam Sullivan, Ellis Houseparent

Another year has come and gone in Ellis. Brendan & Abby are aging gracefully, and another Wismer baby is on the way. These details have come to be the norm for the two families who share the Ellis leadership. What is never normal is the ebb and flow of a year in a boarding house. 2013-2014 provided us all with humour, compassion, angst, and ultimately love for one another. These emotional ties have forged another stellar year. A House is only as strong as your senior leaders and Ellis was well stocked in this regard. We were lucky to have three members of the SEC this year. Liam Kelly, Sean Jack and Ole Borch all helped to make the year a success with their civic involvement and hard work on multiple projects. They were great role models for our younger students in how they approached their tasks on a daily basis. Our Grade 12s were outstanding prefects, working with our Grade 11s to develop a positive culture, mentoring our rambunctious and loud Grade 10s, and guiding the tikes in 9. It is hard to believe that one day our Grade 9s will be prefects, but such is the nature of our school, De Manu In Manum. I am sure that many of our boys will have their special memories of the year, but some of mine include The Chairman of Time, Philip Modupe, on duty, Air Band, and seeing my first four Grade 9 lifers complete their Brentwood journey. There have been many great groups of four…The Fearsome Foursome, The Four Horsemen, The Fantastic Four, however, my first four lifers, Ole, Keenan, Patrick Bailey & Liam are the most important four man front in the history of the NFL: they are my Steel Curtain. These boys maintained academic, artistic, and athletic success. My hat goes off to them and the commitment they made to their school. My last thank you must always go to my beautiful and supportive wife Marilou. Thanks for being such a great house mom. Mr. Liam Sullivan, Ellis Houseparent
