Halloweek!

Halloween is one of my favorite annual celebrations and what made this year’s celebration so marvelous was that the whole week leading up to it was full of fun Halloween-themed activities.

Thanks to the Student Activities Council (SAC) I found myself on October 28 in the McNeill Centre surrounded by pumpkins. When I first arrived, I assumed students would be the ones doing the pumpkin carving, but these munchkins looked a little too small to be Brentwood students. I quickly realized the children of Brentwood staff surrounded me – and they had sharp implements!

These kids were ready to dig into some pumpkin guts and carve out a spooky design. From 4-6pm the McNeill was filled with giggly (although, some were very serious about carving) kids. There were kids of all ages with different ranges of talent, and student volunteers were needed to provide assistance.

It was lovely to see Brentonians volunteering their time to contribute to happily carving kids and enthusiastic parents. As I roamed around snapping a few pictures, I saw designs of mostly faces but also a few cats. Not only were the kids appreciative, the parents loved that this year they were able to avoid pumpkin insides all over their kitchen floors.
