Junior Boys at Courtenay

The Junior Boys Basketball team traveled to Courtenay this past weekend to compete in the Mark Isfeld Ice tournament. After an opening round victory against Highland Secondary by a score of 60-37, the Brentwood boys faced a large and skilled team from Windsor Secondary in North Vancouver. The outcome was a 58-37 loss and a game against another large opponent in Vanier Secondary from Courtenay. In one of the boys’ best efforts of the year, they stayed close with Vanier until late in the fourth quarter when the opponent pulled away for a 64-50 win. The weekend demonstrated that our young team is making improvements and will be a force to be reckoned with next season. Carter A and Ozgur T led the team in scoring throughout the weekend and Brendan S came off the bench against Vanier to lead the team in scoring with 16 points including a perfect 5 for 5 from beyond the three point arc. The boys will finish their season at home during the midterm weekend when they host the Mid-Island Championships at Brentwood’s Woodward Sportsplex. Liam Sullivan, Coach
