Junior Volleyball Gets Started 1
Last weekend, the Junior A Volleyball team hosted their season opener, The Brentwood Invitational. With only two returning players, Alex T and Nairee P, this tournament was going to be a great opportunity to help the new players connect and explore their individual skills over the period of five games. We played many experienced teams, including Wellington, SMUS, Reynolds and Brooks. Even though Brentwood stepped on the court with a newly forming team, we held our own managing two wins against Wellington. Besides the wins and the losses, this tournament was a great opportunity for all of the new girls, as well as the returning players, to get on the court and play some good volleyball. Since then, the team has solidified and developed, in preparation for upcoming tournaments. Thank you to all the family and friends who came to support, making this a great event for both players and coaches.
Belmont Welcomes Brentwood Just a week after playing our first tournament, the Junior A Volleyball departed for yet another appearance on the court. This tournament, hosted by Belmont Secondary School, was another great opportunity for us girls to develop both individually and as a whole. Within a two day period, we played a total of six games, in which we were clearly put to the test. Playing against skilled teams such as Timberline and Reynolds truly tested our physical and mental strength. There were several downfalls where our play deteriorated, costing us the two first games. Despite these losses the first day, we pulled through, dominating against teams such as Vic High and Vanier, leading us to the gold medal in our pool. This tournament was truly a turning point for the team. Since then, we have worked hard on improving our technical skills, which we hope to demonstrate in the ISA’s. We play today at 10:10 in the Woodward Sportsplex. Come on down and check out the action. Nairee P, Allard ‘18
