Just Code It

Just Code It

Now is the time. With nine months of experience under our belts, the software engineering students are ready to work on our major project of the year: creating our own game. After a week of brainstorming, the students have targeted their goals and know what they want to do. From Pokémon to 2048, and from zombies to a chess game, Mr. Lawrence is very excited to see the outcome of all of these. As always, during the process, everyone encounters barriers blocking their way to proceeding with their code. Sometimes, they might just be inside the well known “curly bracket hell” or even worse, the dreaded “null pointer” violation, however, Mr. Lawrence is always there to give us a hand. What can we all say about those precious afternoon tutorials? Where he gives us extra help, which greatly improves our code and always leaves us with a better understanding. It all feels as if we have learnt a new language, a new way of thinking and expressing ourselves. With every step, everyone has to carefully think his or her way through. Learning how to program nowadays is very advantageous. We are heading towards an increasingly technological future, and our world is demanding more and more programers. As Mr. Lawrence always says, “One day, the world will be divided by the ones who can program and the ones who can’t.”  And we intend to be among those who can.
