Lights Up on the Brentwood Stage

Brentwood’s acclaimed musical talent has once more drawn in sold-out audiences throughout the course of its show week. Tony award-winning In the Heights opened to a full house and has continued to be extremely well-received by students and the public.

An entertaining and enthusiastic show, the musical leaves the audience with an uncontrollable desire to get up and dance: its modern and highly Latino score is infectious and delightful.

Usnavi (Andrew L) is the owner of a local corner store in shabby Washington Heights, New York, where the coffee is always “light and sweet”. Surrounding businesses include Daniela’s Unisex Salon and the Rosario’s Cab Company. The tight-knit community faces celebration, romance and heartbreak.

The T. Gil Bunch Centre for the Performing Arts is no stranger to talent. This year’s cast of 49 members, plus dedicated tech crew and professional orchestra, have been preparing since September for the run of the show.

Breath-taking ability and attention to detail clearly shows the ardor of Mrs. Edna Widenmaier (Producer), Mrs. Lorraine Blake (Choreographer) and Mr. Don Armitage (Technician) along with the entire cast and crew of this year’s musical.

Andrew L is joined by Lexi M (Vanessa), Sadé K (Nina Rosario), Davin K (Benny), Kira C and Berit B (Daniela and Carla), Nicholas W (Kevin Rosario), Jocelyn K (Camila Rosario), Aidan C (Sonny), Kai P (Graffiti Pete) and Liam L (Piragua Man) along with the In the Heights chorus to create a magnificent and pleasurable family show for all ages.

Left in awe by the students and their abilities, the audience comes along for a lovely and charming show.
