Every sports day at Brentwood a group of Brentonians gather in one room for meditation while breaking every limit of how much the body can bend or be stretched while completing acrobatic poses which defy the very rules of gravity. Yes, a class of Brentonians voluntarily signed up (or are occasionally ‘volunteered’ by their regular sports coach) for yoga! In yoga, no matter how much you believe you are flexible, or as steady as a rock, or even have the might of Hercules, the yoga instructor – no matter what – can crush your over confidence with a more challenging pose. Yoga is the art of exercising both body and mind. It has different levels from the gentle stretches all the way to the rigorous acrobatics of a one-handed handstand to quick sun salutations cardio and everything between. It is taken by the flexible, non flexible, and even rehabilitation patients. Yoga is tuned to fit one’s pace according to what a particular yogi needs. That is to say that yoga is friendly to everyone depending on how far you are willing to test your body’s limits. Brentwood’s yoga instructor is the lovely Nicola Cusi who is here to help and re-assure you. With the school’s busy schedule, the peaceful and fun yoga class reenergizes Brentonians who are engaged in the busy mosaic which is school life. Seun A, Allard ‘17
