On Track for Gold
This weekend two Brentwood athletes who are part of the Cowichan Valley Athletic Club (CVAC Jaguars) attended the Dogwood Track and Field Meet hosted at the University of Victoria. The two students, who have been practicing diligently, came back with great accomplishments. Kabir B, who had 3 events on Saturday, showed everyone that having multiple events in one day would not be an excuse to stop his dominance on the track. Kabir competed in the 100m, finishing with the gold-winning time of 12.18s, only 0.18s away from his Personal Best. Kabir also showed his excellence in the 300m hurdles, with a time of 43.25, a new PB. So far this season, he is holding the Island Record for the 300m. Last but not least, he finished his day off with the 400m race. Finishing in 53.66s, he is now only 1.32s away from breaking the Island Record!
Paul L also competed and brought forth his best effort. Entered in the Open Men’s Long Jump, Paul collected gold with a jump of 5.74m, just a bit off his PB.
These two athletes will compete again next week in the Elwood Wylie Track & Field Meet, hoping to bring back the gold again.
