Privett House 2013-2014
Privett House: another year of excellence, another year of glory. It all started with a bang as the year just seemed to take us by storm. It was almost as if the summer of 2013 was teasing us with its vibrant colours, exotic smells and temperature so hot that at the end of an afternoon on the field you couldn’t tell where burn ended and skin began. Despite our efforts to embrace the overcoming laziness that summer so eagerly dosed our systems with, school was on, which, for Privett, meant that it was time for another year of reigning in our title of being the best house on campus. Fun and Games was all it was made out to be: it was fun and there were some games, but despite our obvious ability to win, we didn’t do so hot. Even with the minor scuff on our shoes that was Fun and Games, we held our heads high because the real challenge, the renown Eco-challenge, would prove that Privett and Hope brought to the table more than just grit and joy, we brought valour and well-deserved bragging rights. It set in stone our notorious reputation for the remainder of our time here. After several more well-celebrated triumphs and a few dauntless defeats, the year progressed. In fact, not only did it go on, it flew by with lightning speed, never skipping a beat. Not particularly surprisingly, it did not go without its downfalls: a few closed bathrooms, a few hidden shower curtains, a constantly growing collection of confiscated speakers and a plethora of pushups, but in spite of these mishaps the blue-shrouded boys of Privett continued to pursue excellence and our hallowed blue walls became a solace, a place of study, a place of immeasurable fealty to our Lord Neuf, a place never quite rid of the sweet smell of supersaturated rugby socks and rowing unisuits, but a place where all 60 boys, an assortment of Houseparents and dutymasters alike and, of course, Mr. Doehler’s dog, Indy, could assuredly and irrefutably call home.
