Senior B Volleyball 1
Some may mark a good season with a great final win, medals adorning their necks, but as I looked down at my worn out knee pads, slightly fraying, and the wide smiles on the girls faces as we huddled, I knew that our season together had been beyond remarkable. As the term progressed, girls learned new skills and formed their platform in the team of 16. Whether it was just a practice or a game, cheers of encouragement and praise were heard on and off the court. Playing four games and participating in two tournaments, the girls played hard and fought to win, as most games were pushed to sets of three, the school’s motto of “Grit and Joy” really came through. A game never finished without me feeling proud of the girls’ perseverance and love for the sport. Such was our passion that some even sprained an ankle for it – Georgia M – and never will I forget the time that Caroline H got hit in the throat with a serve and then proceeded to have an asthma attack the same game that Caitlin C got stung by a wasp just sitting on the ground. In our last tournament, the girls’ skills and love of the sport peaked and Deborah C even got an all-star award! Coach Scheck pushed and trained us with the mentality that one mistake is just one in a million, and we must always get back out there and fight. Thank you to all my girls on Senior B Volleyball this year and especially our coach, Ms. Scheck, for making it an incredible end to a high school career of bumps, sets, and spikes!
