The AC Carr VI

The AC Carr VI

15 September 2015Mr. Brian Carr

Longtime Brentonians Tony and Yvonne Carr were visitors on Saturday to meet with the new crop of athletes for the 2015-2016 season and see the AC Carr VI for the first time. The boat arrived over the summer and Saturday afternoon was its maiden voyage.  It is tradition at the school for any newly purchased Brentwood boat to be doused with finish line water from the Brentwood Regatta course before it touches the water. If we purchase a boat and pick it up in St. Catharines, we bring a jug of water from the West Coast and perform this ritual on Henley Island. We asked Tony and Yvonne to unofficially christen the boat which they did in front of the Varsity rowers from the Grade 11 and 12 classes. The official christening will take place on October 17th after the Brentwood-Shawnigan Duel race. There will also be an alumni race between the two schools. If you are interested in coming to the school to be a part of the alumni races, please contact me at brian.carr@brentwood.bc.ca or Debbie Sage at debbie.sage@brentwood.bc.ca The AC Carr Boat Fund is one of three legacy funds created to purchase new equipment for the rowing club. The other two are the John L. Queen Lightweight Fund and the Senior Girls Legacy Boat Fund. We thank our generous alumni, as well as past and current parents for their generous support of our crews as they pursue excellence on and off the water. ?
