The Coming of Spring

Although third term officially began three weeks ago, for the students it doesn’t really start until the sun is shining, the couches are on the field, and the summer clothes are out.
Recently, the sun has brightened the skies over Mill Bay and with its glorious rays it has brought the informal beginning of the third term. The couches have been lugged onto the fields each afternoon to observe the growing populace playing Frisbee or soccer and those simply sitting and chatting. The youthful display of life on the fields after school is a true determinant of spring. The laughter and playful shouts lift the gloom of the cold, wet winter weather. Another benefit of the third term sun is that those long-abandoned summer clothes can be brought back to light. The lengthening of the day also adds to the joy-filled days of third term, providing extra time to socialize before saying goodbye until September. The ocean front also comes alive during the spring. With beautiful birds resting on the docks, seals swimming in the bay, and kayaking, sailing and rowing enjoying the warmth, positive energy abounds. This happy reunion with the sun has left the campus with a jovial air, allowing students to appreciate the pristine beauty of the sun, the sea, and…a stack of homework. So enjoy the last term of school. And try to take some homework with you out into the sunshine.
