Whittall-Alex Bowling – A Sport Right Down Our Alley

It was definitely a busy Saturday: Brentwood hosted a Model UN Conference, the Allard Open House was invaded by gun-toting, camo-clad party goers and, most importantly, Whittall and Alexandra Houses had their annual midnight bowling date. Although fatigued by the aforementioned activities, more than 100 boys and girls piled into buses for the short drive to the Duncan Lanes Bowling Alley. The girls got there first and promptly claimed all the lanes for themselves. The boys were faced with the difficult decision of whom to spend the next couple of hours with. “That girl looks like she knows what she’s doing. I don’t want to be embarrassed, maybe I’ll choose somewhere else.” “All my friends are over there. Wait. 5 Pin Bowling? Is that even a thing? I bet I can just throw it as hard as I can and I’ll get a strike.” Yes, it’s true, boys do try as hard as they can to impress girls. Two hours and a tower of empty pizza boxes later, the near limitless well of energy was run dry. It was a great night of bonding between brother and sister houses and it definitely sparked new friendships and rekindled old ones. We’d like to thank Ms. Mais, Mr. and Mrs. Warner, and Mr. Gage for giving us the chance to impress the ladies with our lack of bowling prowess. Jeen S, Whittall ‘14
